320 – the LP king

The results from your LP are back. The CSF is normal.

You realise that you still don’t know whether there is an intracranial bleed or not.

You now feel slightly mortified. Anxiety is creeping in and you immediately order a CT head. You take a mental note that for a suspected brain bleed next time the first thing to do is a CT head.

What do you expect to see on the CT head that would confirm your diagnosis of a subarachnoid haemorrhage?

Convex shaped haematoma

Crescent shaped haematoma

Blood in the CSF spaces
